More Than Just Rubber
The phrase "rubber wheels" can include several wheel material compositions. Some actually made with a true rubber, and others made from synthetic materials.
Thermoplastic rubbers or elastomers are generally a combination of plastic and rubber, bringing the advantages of both plastic and rubber to thermoplastic wheels.
At times in general talk, polyurethane may be referred to as rubber. The truth is that this manmade or engineered material has the elasticity of rubber, but is much more durable. If compared to plastic wheels, a polyurethane wheel will be more impervious to shock and higher impacts.
